Wow! The success of our Centenary week celebrations was unprecedented! So many congratualtions from parents, past pupils and governor's! A HUGE thankyou to ALL staff for their hard work in preparing for this week- it wouldn't have been the success that it was without them!! Also, immense thanks must go to our children- they were an absolute credit to their school and parents- we are so proud of them! Thankyou to all the past pupils who turned out (in their droves!) for the Heritage Day- they made it so special for the school and gave us so many kind, congratulatory comments- do come back and visit again- the children really enjoyed speaking to you and showing you around their school! Our gratitude also goes out to the parents of our children for supporting us with the fantastic costumes that their children turned up in on our Costume/Heritage day- they looked fantastic! Last, but certainly by no means least, thankyou to John Baron, M.P. for unveiling our Centenary Doorway.

I did enjoy the reunion get together. Why were we crammed into two small corridors when the hall was empty and we could have mingled around. I am sure I missed a lot of people I knew as I just couldn't see them

I also went to the Open Day and it was lovely to see the school still going strong. All the old classrooms brought back memories, though in my day we had blackboards and double desks and no IT suite. Seeing photos of the netball team (Mrs McNeil didn't seem to look any different whether the photo was taken in 1960 or 1980) and of Mr King, my 4th year teacher, was fantastic. Sadly I didn't see anyone from the year that I left (1980) but I did meet up with Mrs Courtenay, who taught me in 1977–78 and was one of the best teachers I have ever had. It was worth going just for that. Congratulations on a great school. I owe the fact that I got through uni and a post-grad qualification to the good start I had at Pitsea.

| MARGARET HOFMAN | 20 February 2009 21:34:38 |
Joined Pitsea school in 1945, always had fond memories of it, especially Mr. Bebbington who had a fantastic range of stories and who had shoe inspections every Friday - we only polished them on Thursday nights - and who taught us italic handwriting.
